The Principal Designer's role is essential to managing costs and delivering your construction project under the Construction Design & Management (CDM) 2015 Regulations. Instructing Symonds & Sampson as Principal Designers at an early stage ensures timely preparation and issue of the necessary Pre-Construction Information (PCI) file before the issue of specification preparation and issue for tendering, clarifying what is required from contractors right from the outset of a construction, design and management project. The Principal Designer facilitates effective communication among all designers and stakeholders during the pre-construction phase.


Our involvement as Principal Designer on a project ensures it maintains the required high safety standards from initial design, construction, maintenance, and final disposal of the property.
As your appointed Principal Designer, we will:
- Plan, manage, and coordinate health and safety in the pre-construction phase
- Identify and eliminate or control foreseeable risks
- Liaise with the Principal Contractor to share crucial information
- Coordinate with all designers to ensure compliance and cooperation
- Produce comprehensive Pre-Construction Information (PCI)
- Prepare and maintain the Health and Safety File
