This afternoon, DEFRA released an update on the Capital Grant scheme, which was temporarily closed in November 2024.Funding has been secured for Capital Grants for 2025/26, so they can now process the 4,040 completed applications on hold.
You don't need to do anything if you submit an application and it is put on hold. Your application will be processed, and if approved, you’ll receive an agreement to complete your work as planned.
When the scheme re-opens, spending caps will be put in place. Limits will be set on how much you can apply for in the four categories. The new limits will be:
- £25,000 for water quality
- £25,000 for air quality
- £25,000 natural flood management
- £35,000 for boundaries, trees and orchards
As before, the application window will be open throughout the year.
If you haven’t applied already, we recommend you apply when the scheme re-opens later this year. Symonds & Sampson's team of experienced grant specialists are well-placed to guide you through the application process.
