On a perfect crisp autumn day, with the leaves turning in nearby Green Park, Symonds & Sampson again hosted our ever-popular West Country property showcase in the heart of St James’s on 30 October. Despite all the fevered speculation around the forthcoming budget, we were delighted to see continuing interest in moving out of the capital and home counties to the greener pastures of the West Country.The London Office provides an ideal venue to meet clients in a convenient location to discuss their dreams of moving to the country or expanding their property portfolios. As well as those seeking the more traditional midlife change of pace, we are also seeing buyers moving out of the Southeast, seeking better-value property and an improved lifestyle, and often multigenerational opportunities.
The event was hosted by Peter Grout-Smith, Senior Residential Manager from our Poundbury office, and Angela Gillibrand, Rural Sales Manager from our Axminster office. Speaking after the event, Peter commented, ‘The market for modern properties remains strong, particularly on new dwellings where the focus is on lower cost of living. We are seeing interest in both small, more individual developments which reflect the character of an area, whilst larger developments, including King Charles’s model town of Poundbury, continue to be greatly sought after. The market is price-sensitive, but vendors who heed guidance from our experienced agents are most likely to achieve sales.
Visitors to the showcase were welcomed with a ‘taste of Dorset’ - a glass of sparkling wine from Langham vineyard, with whom we have partnered at our London events for some years, and who we are thrilled to see reaching the highest accolades both nationally and internationally for their outstanding wines.
Symonds & Sampson will return to the capital in early Spring 2026 with a Property Forum, closely followed by the popular London & Country Property Show.
