It’s increasingly evident that as the prolonged dry spell continues, farmers are exceptionally short of fodder with little, if any, surplus going into the winter. Symonds & Sampson’s agricultural team have been in touch with farms across the region and collated a catalogue of silage, hay and maize for sale.The catalogue includes 119 acres of maize at South Petherton and a supply of hay at Shaftesbury. Partner Greg Ridout anticipates adding further fodder, including clamp silage, but advises against delay; demand is high, therefore buying early would be sensible.
