Guidance from DEFRA of £225m in Grants Available From July 2026

DEFRA have today announced guidance relating to forthcoming Capital Grants, where a total of £225m will be available.

The window for applications will open in July (exact dates to be confirmed), and funding will be available to support projects including:

• Hedgerow and tree planting,
• Restoration of boundaries,
• Improving natural flood management
• Supporting better air and water quality.

Guidance suggests funding limits of:

• Up to £25,000 for air and water quality and flood management
• Up to £35,000 for boundaries, trees and orchard group

There will be one eligible application for each SBI managed.

We anticipate high demand for funding when applications open in July; therefore, we strongly advise you to get in touch with the grants experts at your nearest Symonds & Sampson office to ensure your business details and mapping are up to date and to start gathering supporting evidence as soon as possible, so that you are ready to submit your claim when the submission window opens.
