Our History

Estate Agents, Auctioneers & Surveyors since 1858.

From its original roots in Dorchester, the firm has expanded into Somerset, Devon, and Wiltshire, either by expanding or the amalgamation with established local firms that share our values, thereby creating a network of offices to assist clients across the region.

Originally Symonds & Sampson, the firm has also traded under the names Symonds, Sampson & Powell and Symonds, Sampson & Slater over the years.

Our journey began as a firm of Chartered Surveyors, advising farming clients and selling land, property, livestock and machinery in and around Dorchester.

Over the generations, the firm has evolved from its agricultural roots to a multi-disciplinary firm providing a broad range of property advice and selling anything from fodder and livestock to country estates. Our  Professional department has expanded to offer surveys, valuations, planning, and advice to those buying, selling or managing their agricultural, rural or commercial property.

Our agricultural roots remain strong, and we have been involved with Yeovil Livestock Market and continue to be auctioneers at Frome Livestock Market.
