 | Joanna Down MRICSRural Partner | Yeovil, Ilminster Joanna joined Symonds & Sampson in 2026 as a Rural Partner, working within the Rural and Professional department in our Yeovil and Ilminster Offices. Joanna is a dairy farmer's daughter from Dorset. After graduating from Harper Adams University College in 2007, she qualified as a Rural Chartered Surveyor with a national firm of Agents in Oxfordshire, and soon after became a RICS Registered Valuer. Relocating back to the West Country, she worked for a regional firm of Chartered Surveyors where she was an Associate for 11 years. In recent years, Joanna has worked in local Government as a Senior Estate Surveyor working in the Strategic Asset Management team prior to returning to private practice in 2025. A highly experienced Rural Chartered Surveyor, Joanna undertakes a variety of rural professional work, including Valuations, Rural Agency, Landlord and Tenant matters, Compensation, and environmental schemes. Joanna has spent a large proportion of of her working career in Somerset, providing informed and pragmatic advice to landowners, farmers, and rural businesses. Joanna has a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the rural sector and is looking forward to meeting old and new clients of the firm and continuing to build on those relationships.
