A successful property auction in Axminster on Thursday resulted in over £3.5millon being achieved for our clients and yielded the best results in the south-west to date this month.Partner Ross Willmington was delighted to see the Guildhall so full, “This was the biggest auction we have ever held in Devon. 24 lots were offered for sale in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and Dorset and people travelled from far and wide to attend the auction in person. A professional marketing campaign (including an auction launch in London) was delivered, sensible guide prices were agreed with our clients, and we reaped the rewards by successfully selling most lots on the day."

Speaking after the sale, Meredith Holmes, the firm’s Auction Partner commented on a lack of any clear pattern to the market at the moment. “Some results were outstanding. Land in Devon and Dorset reached as much as 88% and 102% above guides, whilst properties in Polperro and Axminster sold for 31% and 77% above their guides. Other lots sold close to the guide, however the stand-out results were a house in 26 acres at Spreyton near Crediton (above) which sold for 26% above the guide at £750,000 and a country house with 12 acres at Shute near Axminster (below) which drew the strongest bidding of the day, the gavel eventually falling at £450,000 - an impressive 71% above the guide".
