Symonds & Sampson Inter-Office Golf Tournament

Published: 21/10/2023 By Sally Reid

The Symonds & Sampson inter-office golf tournament sees professional relations parked to one side for some intense rivalry. We all get behind our local team in this annual event, which is brilliantly masterminded by Dan Magee and where teams compete for two trophies named in memory of much-missed colleagues.
The finals day was held at Bridport Golf Club in September, where the Burraton team of Richard Miller and Tom England edged Sturminster Newton's Will Tremlett and Will Cairns to claim the Paul Dallyn Trophy 2023. Ryan Holmes and Neville Thorner claimed 3rd place, with Stephen Hennessey and Neville Thorner in 4th.

The wind picked up making play tricky in the Heather Burrough Cup Final (i.e. there were lots of excuses!) but Andrew Tregay and James Shapland from Sturminster Newton held Dave West (Poundbury) and Chris Powell (Devizes) to take the win, with Greg Ridout (Yeovil) and Graham Barton (Axminster) in 3rd place.

  • Paul Dallyn Cup Final Winner – Burraton 1 (Richard Miller & Tom England)
  • Heather Burrough Final Winner – Sturminster 1 (James Shapland & Andrew Tregay)
  • Paul Dallyn third place – Dorvil (Ryan Holmes & Neville Thorner)
  • Heather Burrough third place – Bridport (Daniel Magee & Calton Stockley)
  • Closest to pin – Graham Barton
  • Best individual score – Neville Thorner
Well done and thank you from us all to Dan Magee for organising the tournament once again!
