Symonds & Sampson is pleased to report the successful sale of Dairy House Farm in the delightful Hooke Valley, West Dorset.Rural Partner George Whittaker launched the 83-acre residential farm to the market in the second week of December, attracting considerable interest from prospective purchasers within, and relocating to, the area. However, only a handful of viewings were conducted before an offer was accepted, taking the farm off the market during the second week of January. Contracts were exchanged in March, and completion took place in early April.
December might be considered an ‘unseasonal’ time of year to launch, however, most online property portals such as Rightmove experience more traffic during the Christmas period than other times of year. Boxing Day has long been known for its traditional ‘bounce’ in housing market activity, as after the quiet of Christmas Day, people’s thoughts quickly turn to what a new year, and a new home, could look like. This year, that bounce reached record-breaking levels, with 2024 marking the busiest Boxing Day ever for both new property listings and traffic to Rightmove, as home-hunters and sellers began preparing for their 2025 moves.
There is still high demand for high-quality holdings such as Dairy House Farm. With its impressive farmhouse, conservation interest and tranquil position, it was a charming entity and a privilege to bring to the market.
