Spring Flush of Agricultural Auctions

Published: 14/05/2023 By Greg Ridout

We had the wettest March for over forty years – and don’t our Agricultural Auctions department know it! They spent most of the time in full waterproofs preparing and holding a flurry of onsite auctions across south England. The weather didn’t dampen their spirits nor deter bidders from heading along.

Seven on-site farm machinery dispersals, two dairy herd dispersals and two on-site collective machinery sales have taken place over the last ten weeks in addition to the monthly timed online auctions spanning an area from St Austell in Cornwall to Kings Worthy in Hampshire. Our highly experienced auction team pride itself on providing clients with a professional level of service from the initial enquiry, through the preparation for the sale, on the sale day, and efficient accounting and after-service. This in turn has gained them a loyal following from buyers, and a reputation for achieving outstanding results.

Amongst this Spring’s highlights are

  • Halls Farm, Ottery St Mary – 2018 JCB 536-70 Agri-Pro Dual Tech VT to £50,300
  • Goat Hill Farm, Milborne Port – On-site Sale of 178 Organic Holstein Friesian Cows
  • Thong Farm, Ilminster – 2020 New Holland T6.155 to £57,800
  • Frome Market – Spring Calving Herd Dispersal with a Jersey X 2nd Calver to £2646
  • Meadow View, Marston Magna – 2008 Case Maxxum 115 to £30,300
  • Copse Farm, Kings Worthy – 2005 Massey Ferguson 5445 to £23,300
  • Ruskway Farm, Ilminster – 2014 Landini Power Mondial 115 to £22,500
  • Fodder sold on 60+ Farms this season with clamps from 100 Tonne to 1500 Tonnes included. Top prices of £84 per tonne for maize silage and £55 per tonne for grass silage.
Reflecting on the busy Spring, Partner and Head of Agricultural Auctions Greg Ridout says ‘We would like to thank both vendors and buyers alike for their support over the last few months. We are a relatively small department, all from farming backgrounds, and all genuinely privileged to do the work that we do.’
