Twenty-nine lots went under the hammer at Symonds & Sampson’s property auction in Sherborne yesterday, as Auction Partner Meredith Wallis explains. “We were offering lots in six counties: Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and Oxford. These included agricultural and amenity land, building plots, cottages for renovation and commercial investments.“The bidding was particularly strong for the land lots, where a high level of interest across the region bodes well for our two auctions in October – one in Devon and one near Bournemouth. We are also taking entries for our ‘beat the budget’ auction in November and our Christmas Cracker sale in December.”
Notable prices achieved included :
- Land near Dorchester Dorset sold for up to 220% above guide.
- Land near Chinnor, Oxford sold for 200% above guide.
- Land at Bradworthy, West Devon sold for £8,400 per acre.
- Hill land at Cerne Abbas, Dorset sold for nearly £13,000 per acre.
- Land at Shillingstone, near Blandford, Dorset sold for nearly £18,000 per acre.
- Land near Wimborne, Dorset sold for £21,555 and £28,571 per acre.
- Building plots near Martock in Somerset sold for £100,000 and £145,000
- A house for modernisation in Poole, Dorset sold for 11% above guide.
- Development sites
- Barns with potential near Yeovil, Somerset sold for 32% above guide
- East Dorset at 9% above guide.
