Symonds & Sampson were proud to hold a highly successful Agricultural Auction as part of the Southern Counties Machinery Sale at the Newbury Showground last week. Auctioneer James Morrish reported over 800 people in attendance and a flying trade.Top price of the day was for a New Holland T5.120 4wd tractor with the pick of the eight tractors sold on the day, and selling for £43,000. A John Deere 6630 Std 4wd (2012) sold for £24,200.
Top price vehicle on the day was £10,200 for the JD Gator (2020) (part of a dispersal sold on behalf from North Devon) with a Kawasaki Mule (2020) close behind and selling for £9,200. A highly collectable 1974 Series III Land Rover made £6,500.
A substantial entry of farm machinery generated a buoyant trade, with a Case 3.5t Mini Excavator (1999) selling for £5,700, a KV CTS 3m Stubble finisher reached £3,300 and a West 12T Trailer sold at £8,200 with the pick of seven smaller trailers, a Bailey tipping trailer selling for £3,300.

The sale also included a consignment of small tools and equipment on behalf of clients from Chepstow, Wales, where the top items made £100, and a 72% clearance for their 150 lots.
“All in all, it was a very good day in Middle England” reflects James, “buyers from as far afield as Northern Ireland, Sussex, Wiltshire, Cornwall, Milton Keynes and Oxford joined either in person or online. It was a privilege to conduct the sale at this prestigious show for a second consecutive year.”
Symonds & Sampson’s next onsite Agricultural Auction takes place on Thursday 21 November at Tarrant Crawford, Blandford, Dorset where three tractors, machinery livestock and miscellaneous equipment will be sold on behalf of Tarrant Crawford & Abbey Farms (Change in Farming Policy). This will be followed by a collective fodder sale on 26 November, for which entries are invited, as they are for our final Online collective auction of the year, closing on 10 December.
