The largest was 135 acres of arable land and woodland at Catsgore near Somerton which was offered in 4 lots. The most interesting was 14 acres planted to cricket bat willow guided at £12,500 per acre which was sold prior to the auction to a specialist buyer for a premium.  The 3 remaining parcels attracted a variety of bidders and averaged over £10,500 per acre.

20 acres at North Cheriton with a small stone barn saw very competitive bidding from farmers and developers, finally selling at over £16,000 per acre, whilst 4.58 acres at Westhay near Glastonbury made over £12,000 per acre.  Speaking after the auction, Head of Farm Agency, Andrew Tuffin commented “Despite the rising cost of living subduing the general property market, there is still very healthy demand for land.”If you missed out, you have another chance to bid for sought-after Somerset land in our next auction on 25 May, where parcels of land at East Coker and Marston Magna will be offered for sale.
