5 parcels of land in South Somerset starred at our collective property auction on Thursday, reaching up to £16,000 per acre, as Partner Andrew Tuffin explainsThe largest was 135 acres of arable land and woodland at Catsgore near Somerton which was offered in 4 lots. The most interesting was 14 acres planted to cricket bat willow guided at £12,500 per acre which was sold prior to the auction to a specialist buyer for a premium. The 3 remaining parcels attracted a variety of bidders and averaged over £10,500 per acre.
20 acres at North Cheriton with a small stone barn saw very competitive bidding from farmers and developers, finally selling at over £16,000 per acre, whilst 4.58 acres at Westhay near Glastonbury made over £12,000 per acre.
