Symonds & Sampson’s successful autumn property sales continued when they held an auction in Devon on 3 October. Fifteen lots were offered for sale in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, and Hampshire, with a success rate of over 85%.Auctions partner Meredith Wallis said, “The run-up to the auction could be best described as ‘interesting’ as legal questions dominated the sale of some of the lots. Luckily, sensible solicitors and clients with very good memories allowed for any wrinkles to be ironed out with legalities.”
Partner Ross Willmington was pleased to see land prices, particularly holding that “we are in a period of uncertainty whilst we await any tax changes in the budget on 30 October, but buyers appear undaunted, and prices were ahead of expectations. It doesn’t seem to matter where the land is—some people buying were well out of our area—the demand is there.”
