Symonds & Sampson’s auction in Axminster, Devon yesterday proved popular with a packed room and spirited bidding. The lots on offer raised £2 million for the firm’s clients, with a 90% success rate, and cements the firm as the leading firm of property auctioneers in the region.Partner Ross Willmington said, “We had some very interesting lots spread over a large area from St Ives, Cornwall, throughout East Devon and into West Dorset, which certainly appealed to a wide variety of people. We had bidders on the telephone, internet, and many keen people in the room, and we were delighted with the prices, many of which were between 33% and 65% above guide”.
Auction Partner Meredith Wallis added, “We were very pleased to welcome the BAFTA award-winning production company Little Gem filming the auction. They are making a programme about buying and selling at auction to be broadcast in the new year. Having the cameras certainly added to the atmosphere, and they were impressed to see the room so full as people attended the auction in person”.
