Symonds & Sampson Announce the Expansion of Their Commercial Management Department

Published: 07/04/2025 By Lorna Wyatt

Symonds & Sampson are pleased to announce the expansion of their Commercial Management department with the recent appointment of Lee Edgson, who joins Lorna Wyatt and Lorayne Liles in this evolving sector.

Commercial management involves looking after retail properties, shopping centres, commercial units, industrial sites, communal land and blocks of flats, as Lorna explains:

“It focuses primarily on shared spaces and communal areas within developments. A property manager's primary responsibilities are to oversee the upkeep of these areas and buildings. This is done by arranging required maintenance, budgeting and service charge collection.

“Our role as Property Managers requires a healthy relationship between the property's freeholder or management company and the residents. Keeping abreast of legislation and compliance requirements is key, as is good communication and efficient service, to ensure a well-presented property with high occupancy. We also need a good understanding of financial planning and budgeting.

“We manage some 50 sites across a wide area ranging from Taunton in the west to Bournemouth in the east. Our property managers are supported by our client accounting department, enabling us to efficiently manage rent and service charge collection on behalf of a diversity of clients from individuals to charitable, institutional, public or commercial bodies”.

Symonds & Sampson are proud to have recently been appointed as Property Managers of two prestigious residential properties in Dorset:

Royal Pavilion is a significant architectural landmark in Poundbury. It comprises 21 luxury apartments in a building designed by Ben Pentreath, a London-based architect who specialises in buildings that seamlessly fit their environment, often drawing from classical inspiration. The Royal Pavilion is the most significant commission for Poundbury to date. Named after one of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother's racehorses, the Royal Pavilion borrows its lineage from the famous seaside retreat built at Brighton in 1787 for George Prince of Wales, who became the Prince Regent in 1811.

Chartcombe is a prestigious and secure development of 79 flats for those aged 60 and above in the renowned area of Canford Cliffs. It lies in the heart of Compton Acres, still acknowledged as one of the finest privately owned gardens in England. Apartment owners have free access to the gardens throughout the year and a wealth of on-site activities and amenities.
