Buyers at Symonds & Sampson’s November property auction proved that they really do like to be beside the seaside as several coastal properties went under the hammer in Sherborne on Friday. “£2.2 million was raised for our clients”, explained Auctioneer Mark Lewis, “with buyers joining the auction from across the West Country as well as London”.Amongst the coastal properties attracting competitive bidding were:
- 0.17 acres of land at Hayle in Cornwall, sold for £41,000, 173% above the guide
- A mixed-use property in Lyme Regis comprising a restaurant on the ground floor and a maisonette above, sold for £442,000, 26% above the guide
- A former public convenience adjoining Chesil Beach at Portland, sold for £56,000, 124% above the guide
Our final auction of 2025 takes place in Sherborne on 12 December, where a ‘Christmas Cracker’ of a catalogue includes residential, agricultural, development and commercial promises across six counties.
