It’s official! Lonely Planet's 'world’s best beach to visit in winter' is right here on our doorstep! Beautiful Charmouth on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast is a mecca for fossil hunters - even more so in the winter as stormy seas cause rock falls in which even amateur collectors might find treasure.
Beyond the fossils, the beach is renowned for its rock pools, stretches of sandy beach, the traditional seaside village, and the miles of walking along the coast path and through National Trust land to Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast which towers over Charmouth.
