Symonds & Sampson’s property auction on 8 June was a triumph! Local bidders in the room competed with buyers from London, America, Australia, and Hong Kong, resulting in the successful sale of property over £4 million worth of property for our clients.Auctioneer Mark Lewis said “It was very good to see a packed auction room in Axminster to witness the sale of a variety of lots in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and Dorset. Some of the lots had never been offered on the open market before so people had a rare chance to buy something special.”
Ross Willmington, Partner at our Axminster office added “The six-week campaign not only made our office very busy but many of our other offices too as we had lots entered both locally and from as far afield as Blandford, Dorchester, Bridgwater, Shepton Mallett, Bridport and Hayle in Cornwall.
“All lots sold very well but some highlights were:
- 45 acres near Musbury sold at 50% above guide
- A cottage near Blandford sold at 17% above guide
- Buildings and land at Sidmouth sold at 30% above guide
- A bungalow and 5 acres near Axminster sold at 22% above guide.
- A bungalow subject to an AOC at Whitchurch Canonicorum sold at 35% above guide.
“115 people viewed the property, 900 legal documents were downloaded and we had 25 registered bidders. The guide of £395,00 was soon passed, with the hammer eventually falling at £710,000, a staggering 80% above guide. It was incredibly exciting!”
