Somerset Farmhouse on market for first time in generations

All too often, you read ‘top tips’ from Estate Agents on how best to present your house when listing it for sale.  Kirsty Simpson of Symonds & Sampson in Ilminster no doubt given such advice to the vendors of the beautiful Sheep House Farm at Chillington near Ilminster before it was launched to the market recently. Her advice prompted an amusing tale.

Somerset Farmhouse on market for first time in generations

The vendors’ family have lived at the property for generations, originally as farming tenants of the University Estate. When the Estate was to be sold in 1958, the family wanted to buy the farm. On the day the Estate Agents came to photograph the property, Granny strategically hung the washing outside the property preventing the agents from taking a photograph. The ploy worked, the offer was accepted, and the family duly purchased the farm.

High quality photographs (with no washing on the line) are undoubtedly one of the most important tools in selling and letting property. Kirsty’s photographs of Sheep House Farm portray a beautiful, spacious 18th Century house with a separate barn conversion situated in heart of the pretty village of Lower Chillington in South Somerset. The property offers tremendous potential for multi-generational family life in the countryside or perhaps holiday letting,  and is for sale by Tender on 29th April 2022 with a Guide of £750,000-£800,000.
