Mark Lewis reflects on a successful 2019 auction year, and the wider benefits to the firm's clients.
Symonds & Sampson have cemented their position as the top property auctioneers in the south west for the fifteenth year running as they ended their 2019 auctions by selling a property for improvement in Russell Place, Milborne Port for 42% above the guide.
It has been a very good year says auctioneer Mark Lewis “We have covered the whole of Dorset, East Devon, South Somerset and West Wiltshire with a mixture of residential properties to renovate, commercial lots, building plots and agricultural land.
"We have added an extra auction venue in Wimborne to compliment the sales in Sherborne and Axminster and this has drawn buyers from the Poole/ Bournemouth conurbation. Many of the disappointed bidders have bought property through our private treaty register and this has opened up new opportunities for our vendors.
"It has been interesting to notice that the number of telephone and proxy bidders has increased this year. I assume this is because people are now comfortable with this type of service and also time is becoming more precious.
“Our position as the leading firm in the south west is something we are very proud about and we finished with our turnover 48% ahead of our nearest competitor. (Statistics EIG Property Auctions)
“One particular highlight for me was selling my 2,500th property, a cottage in Bridport, which sold for 29% above guide."
