Man buys auction lot from the top of a mountain

Symonds & Sampson had a very successful auction on 7 April 2022 when 26 lots were catalogued for sale in Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset. Buyers were drawn from America, France, Israel and Gibraltar as well as throughout England which pushed prices well above expectations.

Auctioneer Mark Lewis was surprised that buyers were sourced from so far away “We have ensured our marketing reaches parts that other auctioneers cannot reach by being a part of Auction House UK and The London Office but the traffic through our own site has been very busy and the six week campaign certainly worked well.

“We often find people bidding from abroad but this auction was certainly an exception and it was great to see strong bidding on all lots.”

Notable prices were:

  • Agricultural land £8,152 acre to £19,000 acre
  • Cider orchard £24,000 acre
  • An island in the middle of the River Stour £27,000
  • Two cottages near Wimborne £37% above guide
  • Building plots in Somerset 40% above guide
  • Former garage in Weymouth 57% above guide
  • Farmhouse near Dorchester 28% above guide
