I have heard the phrase ‘the only certainty in 2019 will be uncertainty’. The above may be the case in the political world but in terms of property there are many certainties.
I have been at the forefront of the regional property market for over 25 years having experienced recessions, sharp declines in property values, the financial crises and credit crunch. During these turbulent times the Wessex property market has always remained resilient and active. New homes have continued to be built including major developments in Poundbury and throughout Dorset, Somerset, Devon, Wiltshire and Hampshire all of which continue to prosper. Many buyers have relocated to the area for work, others have chosen to escape the city rat race for a quieter life and many retirees continue to flood to the area. Investment buyers particularly those drawn to the potential strong returns of the vibrant holiday letting market continue to invest in the area. The needs of homeowners always evolve whether starting a family and seeking to upsize or downsizing to release capital for retirement, forced sales and deceased estates will continue to happen irrespective of the economic outlook.
We our very fortunate that property in our area is seen as a safer haven for investment. We tend not to experience the dramatic price fluctuations that some do, which in times of uncertainty can lead to more buyers seeking the security of the Wessex region.
Should you be considering a move or purchase in 2019 our team of experienced property professionals can be contacted across our regional network and are on hand to provide free-no obligation market appraisals and marketing advice for sellers and assist prospective buyers with their search for a new home. We are adept at all marketing avenues; private treaty, tender and auction and will advise you about the best route for your property.
Whatever your property needs we look forward to assisting you.
In the meantime, I will wish all a happy and prosperous 2019.
