A hot day and a warm welcome at vintage sale

Symonds & Sampson were delighted to hold a farm dispersal sale at West Orchard near Shaftesbury on 11 May, and a terrific turnout from farmers and enthusiasts ensured it was an excellent day with more than 700 people in attendance.

A hot day and a warm welcome at vintage sale

Auctioneer and rural partner Greg Ridout said: “We were holding the sale for Colin Foot who had built up a collection of tractors over his lifetime and had restored many to their former glory. Buyers flocked form all parts of our region with national interest in some of the special lots and in particular the Ferguson half-tracks sparked by a social media post. As well as the larger machinery there were a number of collectables and bygones. Plenty, in other words, for people to reminisce about!”

Notable prices included:

  • 1980 Massey Ferguson 595 Mk II £6,750
  • 1984 Massey Ferguson 250 £6,300
  • 1980 Massey Ferguson 590 with loader £4,100
  • 4 Ferguson T20’s selling to £1,150
  • Fordson Super Dexta £4,300
  • 1950 David Brown Cropmaster Petrol/TVO twin seater £1,250
  • 1966 Ford 2000 Preforce £4,900
