Symonds & Sampson’s farm sales team have seen an extremely busy first 6 months in 2019. 13 on-farm sales have been conducted so far this year and the calendar is rapidly filling up until late autumn.
The year started with the seasonal on-farm sales of fodder which saw hay prices at levels not seen for many years, primarily due to last summers prolonged dry spell. Dispersal sales have included a highly popular dispersal of 14 Massey Ferguson and David Brown vintage tractors near Shaftesbury with buyers having flocked from all over the UK to attend.
Another notable sale was the dispersal of all the fodder, livestock and associated equipment on behalf of Drax Estate, Wareham. An increase in the number of livestock sales included the on-farm dispersal of 200 dairy cows and followers for E & J Hooper, and 50 suckler bred cows and calves for R Blatchford, both of which were extremely well supported with buyers travelling from afar.
In interesting times for all sectors of dispersal sales, we have seen a move in all markets with a huge variety of livestock, deadstock and miscellany going under the hammer, with people looking to diversify and protects their interests for future generations.
