News Item-Frome Market Changes
The Directors of Premier Livestock Auctions Limited (PLA) are pleased to announce that their business will be transferred to Frome Livestock Auctioneers Limited (FLA), a new company formed by many members of Cooper & Tanner LLP and Symonds & Sampson LLP; those businesses having acted as auctioneers for PLA for many years.
The market at Frome has been owned and operated by PLA since 1993. PLA is a family-run company that was built up over many years by the late Ian MacNicol and, since his death in 2006, it has been managed by his widow, Adel, and son, George.
Mrs MacNicol said: “This has not been an easy decision for us to make, particularly as my late husband was involved with markets for over 40 years; but we have to accept reality and there is no longer a member of the MacNicol family able to give the time and the commitment needed to ensure the continuing development and on-going success of the market. Our overriding concern is to ensure that there is a secure platform from which Frome Market can be driven forward and continue to offer the first class service to our many customers on which our business has been built. The MacNicol family will still be involved as landlords of the Standerwick site, but on a non-operational basis”.
Michael Joyce and Andrew Robinson, on behalf of FLA, have stated that they are thrilled to have been given this opportunity by the MacNicol family, who firstly through Ian, and more latterly through his widow Adel and son George, have given the leadership and the backing that the business required as it progressed over a period of decades to its modern home at Frome. They believe that with the valued assistance of the existing team, FLA can take up the challenges the 21st century will bring to livestock marketing and, with the continued support of vendors and buyers alike, provide a modern marketing medium that will meet the needs of those employed and involved in the livestock industry in the years ahead.
The new company takes over on the 1st June 2013. Until then click on the following link for Frome Market
