Symonds & Sampson - Peter Brook

In 1965 Peter Brook and his father opened as partners at No. 36, Hogshill Street, Beaminster, trading as Harold Brook & Partners. It was very much a family concern as Peter's mother, Gillie helped with viewings on Saturdays and during the busy summer months. In those days you could buy a small cottage in the town for £1,500 and £10,000 would buy a country property with several acres.

In the early 1980's Harold Brook & Partners merged into the successful partnership of TRG Lawrence & Son and later the partnership became part of a large corporate firm of estate agents owned by Lloyds Bank.

In January 1993, Peter left the corporate world and set up on his own, persuading his wife Maggie to join the successful team which included Jane Crabbe, who had already been working with Peter and his father since the early 1980's.

Peter's working life has been in estate agency and in 1971 he became a Member of the National Association of Estate Agents becoming a Fellow in 1984. His interests outside the office include golf and boating and he is involved with many local charities including the Beaminster Festival.
