Philip Pollard was born and brought up just outside Winchester, the son of a Land Agent. Following a scholastic career when he was often more interested in the sports field than the classroom, he worked for a year as a relief milker on a Rex Patterson dairy farm to the north of Winchester. He went on to study Rural Estate Management at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.

After Cirencester Philip worked for a small firm in Salisbury where he successfully passed his final professional examinations at the first attempt. A brief spell in Devon followed but the opportunity to come back to Salisbury and work in an area he knew well was too much of a temptation and in 1982 he returned to Salisbury and started work for John Jeffery & Son. During the ensuing years he gradually built up a good agricultural practice which in 2000 resulted in him joining the Partnership of Symonds & Sampson and he is now the Partner in charge of the Salisbury office and is Head of the Professional Department.

Philip serves on the National Council for the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and is also seconded to the Tax Committee providing guidance to members of the Association on tax matters.

Philip has been married to Derryn for 20 years and they have 4 daughters of varying ages. Providing a taxi service for the girls fills much of Philip and Derryn's spare time! However this summer they have managed to grab a few moments to have a day out on a shared family boat kept in Poole Harbour.
