Paul was born in Sussex into a farming family but has lived near Gillingham since he came to Dorset in 1975 when he joined Senior & Godwin as Assistant to the legendary Arthur Richards. Paul moved to Symonds & Sampson in Dorchester in 1983 and became a partner in 1985 on the retirement of David Symonds the last of the Symonds family attached to the firm.

He moved back to the Sturminster Newton office in 2000 and continues to be a General Practice Rural Surveyor selling and letting farms, land and buildings, obtaining planning permission, acting for sellers and purchasers, landowners and tenants. He fears he has broken up more farms by selling them in lots than anyone else in the County - not a pleasing claim, except to the vendors. Paul still gets a buzz from negotiating sales but also gets great satisfaction from advising families on arrangements for the transfer and division of family assets to the next generation.

A countryman at heart, he has a very wide selection of interests including shooting, fishing, sailing, music, gardening, architecture, rural affairs, education (he has been a School Governor for a number of years) and is more than happy to relax working in his garden or being with his four grandchildren. Married to Joan they have three grown-up children, including son Oliver who is a Land Agent in Gloucestershire.
