Dorset Land on the BBC

July 2010

The BBC 1 television programme Homes Under The Hammer has become extremely popular and at nearly every Symonds & Sampson auction they come along and film.  This was certainly the case in the Summer of 2008 when land at Powerstock in West Dorset was sold on behalf of a deceased estate.

Mark Lewis, Head of Agency and Auctioneer at Symonds & Sampson said: "This was some of the highest priced land that I have ever sold at auction and there was competitive bidding not only from local people but also weekenders and a charitable trust.  The land was all around the village bisected by a stream and was very pretty but we were still very surprised that much of the land sold for three times our estimate with the amounts raised being between £15,000 an acre up to £45,000 an acre".

The programme will be shown at 10am on Friday, 9 July 2010 and can also be watched on the BBC iplayer.
