Ton Up At Symonds & Sampson Auction

November 2009

Mill Close Farm House

Symonds & Sampson recorded their 100th auction sale of the year on 25 November 2009 at Sherborne.

Auctioneer, Mark Lewis, reported another packed room. 'As usual, the room was full to overflowing with strong competitive bidding for all of the lots. With fewer properties coming onto the market at the moment there is less choice for buyers and looking for property to renovate the market is quite thin so buyers had a terrific chance to buy their dream home.

'On offer was a timber bungalow in Glanvilles Wootton adjoining open countryside selling for £134,000; a detached stone house in Marnhull for £339,000; a cottage in Winterborne Stickland for £235,000 and land at Toller Porcorum being 4.65 acres with a building selling for £62,000.

'Star of the show however was Mill Close Farm House at Oborne owned by Dorset County Council and used as the farm house to the local tenanted farm for many years. Set in a good sized plot, the guide price of £250,000 was easily exceeded and the property sold for £346,000.'

The sale took Symonds & Sampson's total for the year above £22million and the Auctioneers now look forward to their last sale of the year on Friday, 18 December.
