No - I am from another beautiful county, Northumberland.
Who has been your main influence in life?
Apart from my wife and my clients, Colonel Joe Symonds who is still going strong well into his 90s.
What has been the highlight of your career?
Building a business from one man and one girl in Dorchester office to the pre-eminent firm in this area.
You used to be an auctioneer, do you miss not being on the rostrum?
No - I was never very good at it, but I loved the buzz.
What has been the biggest change in your profession in recent years?
Health & Safety legislation, which I cannot stand; computers, which i cannot use; and most recently the recession which has been uncomfortable for everybody.
What was your biggest deal?
Not my biggest deal, but one of many "best days", when I sold by auction about 16 properties in Dorchester`s Corn Hall and hardly had to look for the first or last bid on any of them. Exciting, satisfying and profitable.
What challenges lie ahead?
Retirement or a consultancy, if it is offered, in under two years` time.
Are you a football or rugby fan?
Token support for Newcastle United.
Do you have any regrets?
Of course, but I seldom look back and will not be sharing any with you!
Do you still play sport?
Tennis - badly, table tennis and shooting.
What are your interest outside work?
My dogs, gardening and a drink with friends.
Have any of your children entered the profession?
No. They all work in the world of sport, racing, golf and personal fitness training.
